What is Crocodile crocodile leather?
Crocodile crocodile leather is a type of leather made from Crocodile crocodile. This is a fish line belonging to the same family as the Alligator crocodile with many similar characteristics, however, if looked at in detail from many angles, they are completely different, which are:
About the family
Crocodile family – Saltwater crocodile – Nile crocodile – Central American crocodile – Swamp crocodile
Jaw shape
Crocodile (right) has a longer, more pointed jaw that resembles the letter “V”. The crocodile’s pointed snout is not as strong as the alligator’s, although it can still create equal bite force.
Crocodile jaws have a more general design suitable for all types of bait. Research in crocodilians shows the shape of crocodile snouts and the influence on their diet
Skin receptors
Crocodiles have tiny sensory pores around the upper and lower jaw areas. You will see small, black specks that almost look like stubble. These pores are capable of detecting even slight pressure changes in the water, and also assist them when locating and identifying prey.
Role of receptors on crocodile skin scales
Over the years, we have known that this receptor was developed to determine water pressure and can expand the sensory area throughout the body of Crocodile, but previous studies have shown that this organ can also help Crocodile receive chemicals or even determine the salinity of water.
Characteristics of products made from Crocodile crocodile leather.
Crocodile and Alligator leather products are easy to distinguish. If there are small dots or dimples near the skin grooves on the scales, you can be sure that it is crocodile skin and not Alligator or Caiman.
Crocodile crocodile’s skin structure
The body is short, round, the tail, throat and mouth are narrow (the crocodile’s nose is longer and more pointed like the letter “V”).
The scales on the abdomen are square, the scales on the flanks are round and as wide as the scales on the abdomen.
Small dots/pores are easily seen on the surface of crocodile skin (in a scale box, the dots are located in the lower, middle part of the scales).
Crocodile’s horns have 2 rows, 1 row of 4, 1 row of 2.
The average size of farmed crocodile skin is about 20–30cm, maximum reaching 40–45cm but very rare.
Wild crocodile skin is rarely traded on the market, however if it is available, the belly width can be up to 125cm.

A cousin of the Porosus leather line, Nile crocodile leather has larger scales.
Porosus Crocodile
King of the Exotic leather line, has the highest value on the market. This skink is common in Australia but it is a saltwater species in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Porosus crocodile and the Nile crocodile are said to be characteristic of modern crocodile leather. Porosus leather has receptor holes on almost the entire skin – what makes this type of leather famous. Although not perfectly symmetrical, Porosus is natural leather with 3 words to describe it: small, square and symmetrical. Porosus leather is always sought after by collectors.
New Guinea Crocodile
